Retired soldiers protest over pension hike

Chandigarh, May 28, 2008: Retired soldiers and ex-servicemen gathered at a soldiers' memorial in a suburb of Chandigarh demanding pension hike. They wore black badges and went on a hunger strike to protest against being shortchanged by the sixth pay commission.

Meanwhile, Indian army Chief General Deepak Kapoor expressed the hope that the central government would set correct the aberrations.
