Eight Olympic pandas fly to Beijing from Sichuan

Chengdu, May 24, 2008 : Eight pandas which were chosen to entertain tourists during the Summer Olympic Games were flown to Beijing on Saturday morning (May 24) from the provincial capital Chengdu of Sichuan province.

The pandas were first transferred from the Wolong Giant Panda Reserve to Chengdu Panda Reserve Centre and then flown to Beijing the next day. The visit of the pandas was planned long before the May 12 earthquake struck China.
