Two more terror suspects arrested in Karnataka

Belgaum, May 29 (UNI) The city police today arrested two more persons who are suspected to have links with terrorist organisations.

Police sources said Imtyaz Dalayat (21) and Nadeem Syed (20) had been picked up from Malmaruti area and they were subjected to questioning.

It was suspected that the duo were associates of Nasser, who was arrested by the police yesterday. Another suspect Liyakat was arrested in the city a week ago.

The arrests comes in the wake of more than a dozen arrests made earlier this year in the districts of Davangere, Dharwad, Gulbarga and Bangalore and the arrested were accused of having ties with banned SIMI and Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit.

They were accused of hatching terror attacks in the state and Goa and had allegedly conducted meetings in the forests of Dharwad district and in Castle Rock bordering Goa in this district.

Meanwhile prominent persons from Muslim community today held a meeting in the city and decided to submit a memorandum to the police and district administration over the police 'targetting' the Muslim youth and harassing them.

They said the educated youth from the community had suffered from inferiority complex and faced social problems as they were being 'branded' as supporters of terror outfits.
