Two killed by a massive boulder

Gangtok, May 29 (UNI) Two persons were killed when an overhead massive boulder slipped and crashed into their thatched house at Namcheybong, East Sikkim, about 20 kms from here.

Police said one Santa Bahadur Thapa (52) and his 19-year-old son Ram Bahadur Thapa were killed on the spot. Both of them were asleep when the mishap occurred at around midnight last night.

Two other family members survived with minor injuries. One of them was admitted to the STNM Hospital.

The bodies were recovered by a rescue team of police and local volunteers and handed over to the family members after post-morterm.

East Sikkim district authorities visited the spot and disbursed the compensation to the surviving members.
