Power-related deaths in MP more than national average
Bhopal, May 29 (UNI) More than 270 people have been killed in the accidents in Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board per year which is 2.5 fold more than the national average, official sources said today.
''The increasing mental stress and work load results in the accidents killing most of the people,'' Madhya Pradesh State Employees Engineers Coordination Committee Regional Convenor Vinay Pandeya told UNI here today.
He said that the national average of victims in electricity-related accidents was two per 1,000 while in Madhya Pradesh it was more than five per 1,000.
''No significant surge in power production has been taken place in the state from last 20 years while due to its escalating production cost electricity at high rates is being supplied to the consumers,'' he added.
