Middle-aged woman raped in Jammu

Jammu, May 29 (UNI) A middle-aged woman was allegedly raped by a man inside a hotel in the heart of the city late last night, police sources said here today.

Police said the accused, identified as Satpal Sharma (50), assured the victim of getting her son appointed in a government department.

''The accused took the victim along with him to a local hotel and told her that she will be introduced to a senior official, who will help in getting a government job for her son,'' a senior police official told UNI.

Satpal, however, allegedly raped her inside the hotel. The victim raised the alarm on which the hotel staff broke open the door and rescued her.

Meanwhile, a police party reached the spot and arrested the accused. A case under section 376 of the Ranbir Penal Code has been registered against him and investigations are in process.
