BJP demands EC to take action against officials
Hyderabad, May 29 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today urged the Election Commission(EC) to order an inquiry and take swift action against the officials who had commited irregularities in preparing the electoral lists.
Party state president Bandaru Dattatraya, in a letter to the EC, a copy of which was released to the press here, said the electoral lists prepared by the EC were full of irregularities and done without proper verification.
As names of several voters went missing in the lists, they were deprived of their valuable democratic and constitutional right to vote, the BJP leader pointed out.
While the voters lists given to the political parties contained most of the names, several names were found deleted in the lists supplied to the polling booths, he said adding that voters, despite having Elector's Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) and whose names were found missing had exercised their franchise in the last elections.
He alleged that the officers, who prepared the voters lists had intentionally deleted the names from the electoral lists.
Meanwhile, Lok Satta Party President Dr Jayaprakash Narayan urged the EC to make Post Office as the nodal agency for voter registration and to prepare the voters lists correctly.
