Marine Biotech Park to come up in Orissa

Bhubaneswar, May 28 (UNI) A Special Marine Biotech Park will be set up in Ganjam district of Orissa to facilitate the development of new marine products in the state, Orissa Science and Technology Minister Duryodhan Majhi said here today.

The proposed park would also encourage advanced research activities in the field of marine biotechnology.

Mr Majhi asked the KIIT University to submit a Detailed Project Report to the state government about their plan to set up a Bio-Informatics Research Centre.

A delegation of the KIIT university had submitted a proposal to set up a Bio-Informatics Research Centre to train students on bio-informatics and take up research in the field of industrial toxicology and Malaria.

The delegation also made a presentation before the Minister and sought financial assistance from the state government to set up the centre.

The KIIT delegation claimed that they had the support of the Johns Hopkins University, USA, in this regard.
