Instant punishment for temple thief
Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, May 28 (UNI) A youth who attempted to steal the 'kumbha kalasam' atop the Dhavaneshwar temple here seems to have got instant punishment from God himself.
Police said Babu (35), hailing from Vellore district, had gained entry into the temple by scaling the compound wall after the priest had locked up the temple, last night. When he attempted to remove the nearly three-foot-long 'kalasam', he slipped and fell down, breaking his leg.
The priest noticed him lying in the temple premises with the 'kalasam' when he opened the temple for offering prayers this morning and immediately informed the police.
Police rushed to the spot, arrested Babu and sent him to the Kancheepuram Government Hospital for treatment.
