Heavy rain, thunderstorms disrupt flight operations
New Delhi, May 26 (UNI) Heavy rain and thunderstorms disrupted flight schedules at the IGI airport here this morning, delaying 20 flights and 12 others being diverted, airport sources said.
''Due to heavy rainfall, strong surface winds and low visibility at the airport, flight operations were disrupted between 0837 hrs and 0921 hrs today. All the flights during this period were affected. Twenty flights got delayed while 12 others got iverted,'' a spokesperson of the GMR group said.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms this morning brought about a sharp drop in the mercury in the city. The rain also caused waterlogging and traffic jams at several places.
