Dharam Singh's follower attempts to commit suicide
Gulbarga, May 26 (UNI) Unable to bear the defeat of former Karnataka Chief Minister N Dharam Singh in the election, an ardent Congress worker attempted to commit suicide by swallowing sleeping pills at Yadrmi Village in Jewargi taluk today.
Congress party sources told UNI that Shabbir Ali (24), disgusted over the defeat of Mr Singh, who lost the election by a slender margin of 52 votes attempted to commit suicide by consuming sleeping pills.
He was rushed to a private hospital.
Mr Dharam Singh's son Dr Ajay Singh, District Congress President Allam Prabhu Patil and other leaders including C B Patil went to the hospital and inquired about the health of Mr Ali.
Mr Singh's dream of creating record by winning the elections for the ninth consecutive term from Jewargi was thrashed as he was defeated by BJP candidate Doddappa Gouda.
