Two quintal opium siezed in punjab

Gurdaspur, May 25 (UNI) The special narcotics team of the Punjab police seized two quintal opium from truck in Batala town of the district this evening, police sources here said.

Two persons identified as Jasbir Singh and Gurcharan Singh who were in the truck were taken into custody and later arrested under the NDPS Act.The third person identified as Lakhwinder Singh managed to escape.

The opium was hidden in the heap of coal which was loaded in the truck.
