Tension over rejection of 132 postal ballots
Gulbarga, May 25 (UNI) Tension prevailed for some time at the counting centre following rejection of 132 postal ballots out of 217 citing reason that they were not singed by the voters in the Jewargi constitutency from where former Chief Minister N Dharam Singh tasted defeat for the first time since 1972.
In the postal ballot the BJP candidate got 75 votes and the Congress 57 votes.
As soon as the result was declared by the Official, the Congress leaders appealed for 'recounting of postal ballots', however it was rejected.
Talking to UNI Mr C B Patil, Congress leader and polling agent of Mr Singh, alleged that the Election officials have shown partiality in considering the appeal for recounting of the postal ballots.
