RSP to urge LF to reconsider industrial policy
Kolkata, May 25 (UNI) Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), ally of the ruling Left Front, will urge the latter to reconsider the industrial policy taking into account the Front's dismal performance in the Panchayat election.
Addressing mediapersons after the state committee meeting of the RSP here today, senior party leader and state PWD Minister Kshiti Goswami said more transparency was needed in respect of land acquisition and the Front should discuss the issue at length.
'' In tomorrow's bi-partite meeting with the CPI(M), we will raise the issue and other matters which might have been the reasons behind the unsatisfactory results of the Front in the Panchayat poll, '' Mr Goswami said.
Referring to the violence in the poll, in which seven party supporters were killed, he said '' a potential fascist tendency is prevailing within our democratic set up which is responsible for the violence during the poll.'' He alleged that the state administration was aware of the possibility of violence at Basanti, but no preventive steps were taken in that regard.
Mr Goswami demanded that all bureaucrats and police officers, who were alerted about the violence but did not take any step, should be dismissed.
He informed that in the beginning of the next month, RSP would organise two conventions protesting against the violence during and after the Panchayat election.
On June 10, he said, the RSP would organise a statewide money collection drive to help the violence-affected people at Basanti and other places in the state.
