Srinagar, May 25 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government has set up a committee to investigate massive unauthorised construction of houses and other buildings on paddy and other pieces of land in the state.

Official sources said the committee members will visit all districts in the state to investigate the construction of houses, shopping and other complexes and brick kilns on paddy and other fields.

They said the panel has been directed to submit its report within the next two months so that proper action could be initiated against the law violators.

Sources said the government took serious note of illegal construction of brick kilns, houses and other structures in the state.

Thousands of houses, besides hundreds of brick kilns, have been constructed on paddy and saffron fields in the state during the past 15 years without any permission from the government.
