Mumbai, May 25 (UNI) The Islamic scholars' community in the city have praised the success of Wasimur Rehman, who has been selected for the country's most prestigious job of civil services.
Rehman, who belongs to a poor family, was a religious scholar as well as a graduate in BUMS from Islamic school at Deoband in Uttar Pradesh. He was among the 734 fateful candidates to successfully clear the civil services exam, conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) this year.
Maulana Bonai Naeem Hasni of Vahdate Milat Council said, ''It is a great pride for the community that a religious scholar has been selected for the post of IAS officer.'' It is an exemplary success of an Islamic Scholar, which has also set an example that Madarsas should not be considered as a cradle of terrorists, Maulana said, adding that Fascist and communal forces always blame that Islamic schools are the centre of terrorism and cater the education of terrorism.
