Implement Tribal plan in JK: LC committee

Srinagar, May 25: Expressing concern over the inordinate delay in the implementation of Tribal Plan in Jammu and Kashmir, Legislative Council committee on Social Welfare department has constituted a sub-committee to enquire the cause of delay and proposed action against the erring officials.

The committee headed by Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) Basharat Ahmad Bukhari said there are some deviations in the criteria in the distribution of the new Anganwari centres in the state.

An official spokesman said today that the Committee expressed concern over the inordinate delay in implementation of the Tribal Plan which has caused lot of problems for the targeted group for whom the funds were sanctioned.

He said a specific instructions were issued to the department to avoid unnecessary delay and take steps to release the funds on time so that the funds could be utilized for the purpose.

He said it was decided to constitute a sub-committee who would enquire the cause of delay and propose action against the erring officials.

The committee also took stock of the functioning of Jammu and Kashmir Women Development Corporation. However, it was informed that the corporation is facing problems for implementation of various schemes due to the paucity of staff and funds for creating awareness among the women folk.

The committee reviewed the distribution of new Anganwari centres in the state, committee found some deviations in the criteria and directed the department to look into the matter and strictly observe the guidelines set by the government.
