Dharam Singh's dream of creating a record thrashed

Gulbarga, May 25 (UNI) Former Karnataka Chief Minister N Dharam Singh's dream of making it to the Legislative Assembly for a record Ninth time was thrashed when he was defeated by BJP candidate in the elections.

This was for the first time the 72-year old senior Congress leader tasted defeat after representing the Jewargi for eight terms since 1972.

The outcry of the people about lack of basic amentities like drinking water, roads and sanitation in the constitutency though Mr Singh was Minister for more than a decade and Chief Minister for about 18 months might have contributed to his downfall.
