1 killed, 7 injured in clash at Purulia

Purulia, May 25 (UNI) A person was killed and seven others were seriously injured when the supporters of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (Soren) and the CPI(M) clashed at Malthore village under Mufassal police station of this district.

Police said here today that the people, injured in the clash which occurred last night, were admitted to the Purulia Sadar Hospital where one of them succumbed to his injuries early this morning.

JMM(S) West Bengal state committee president Ajit Prasad Mahato alleged that CPI(M) cadres had attacked his party's workers while they were engaged in a community programme.

The JMM(S) also organised a rally in the village in protest against the incident.

Meanwhile, a police contingent was rushed to the area as tension prevailed.
