UP govt promises to clear farmers dues by June 15
Basti, May 24 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government today announced to pay the sugarcane dues of about Rs 2.5 crore to farmers till June 15.
Talking to mediapersons here, UP sugarcane and irrrigation minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui gave this information saying the Mayawati government is working for good of farmers.
There were judicial obligations in providing sugarcane dues to farmers, however, a senior official of a sugarcane mill had been arrested for being reluctant in paying back the dues, Mr Siddiqui said.
Stringent action would be taken for committing any laxity in clearing the dues by June 15, he added.
Lauding the Mayawati government, he said crime rate had shown a steeping decline during an year-old BSP regime in the state.
