Three convicted for contraband smuggling
Patna, May 24 (UNI) A local court today handed a five-year jail term to three people and also slapped a fine of Rs 25,000 each on them for their involvement in contraband smuggling.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Brajendra Kumar Srivastav sentenced all the accused to rigorous five year jail term after hearing their arguments and that of the prosecution.
They were found guilty under Section 20 of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
According to the charges, officials of Central Excise department had arrested the convicts from Nawada when they were transporting 850 kg of Ganja in a truck from Kodarma in Jharkhand to Orissa for selling it in illicit market.
