Surjeet's condition improves; off ventilator support for 5th day
Noida, May 24 (UNI) Veteran CPI(M) leader Harkishan Singh Surjeet, who came out of coma a couple of days ago, continued to show signs of improvement in health, even as he was kept off the ventilator for the fifth day today.
Doctors at the Metro Heart Hospital described his condition as critical though there had been signs of improvement.
The 92-year-old Marxist leader was admitted to the Metro Heart Hospital here following acute respiratory problems a fortnight ago.
Most of his parameters --heart beat, blood pressure and urinary functions-- are normal.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Senior BJP leader L K Advani, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, former UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, and several Union Ministers had visited Surjeet over the past few days to enquire about his condition.
