Sugar prices dip on improved stock supply by mills

Navi Mumbai, May 24 (UNI) Prices of wholesale sugar today eased by Rs 25 per quintal on thin bulk consumers and retailers demand in the face of larger stock arrivals from co-operative mills, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants Association said.

Prices of small and medium grades of sugar went down by Rs 25 and Rs 15 per quintal respectively on heavy offers by stockists because of bumper stocks at the terminal markets.

Similarly, prices of ex-mill small and medium grades also eased by Rs 10 each, on sluggish demand from dealers in the face of reduced ready stocks at the domestic centres, traders added.

Following are the spot wholesale rates of sugar per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,435/1,500, Medium grade: Rs 1,464/1,565.

Ex-mill small grade: Rs 1,435/1,465 and medium grade: Rs 1,455/1,500.
