Silver opens high but gold opens low

Mumbai, May 24: A mixed trend was observed in the bullion market today with silver resuming high at Rs 25,105 per kg with a big gain of Rs 125 on fresh demand from industrial users but gold resumed low at Rs 12,855 per ten gm with a small loss of Rs five from their last close on lack of demand from jewellery makers and bearish advice from London and Asian markets, traders at the Bombay Bullion Association (BBA) said.

In the London and Asian markets, gold quoted low in a range of USD 925.50/926.10 per troy ounce and silver touched low at USD 18.21/18.26 per troy ounce from their last finish, traders added. Following were the opening spot rates: Silver (per kg) 999 fineness grade: Rs 25,105 Gold (per 10 gm): 99.5 purity standard mint: Rs 12,800 99.9 purity pure gold: Rs 12,855.
