Police to instal own mobile network
Barwani (MP), May 24 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh police is considering setting up its own telephone and mobile phone network as part of its modernisation programme, Indore Range's Inspector General of Police Anil Kumar said.
Modernisation was progressing at a fast pace for the last few years, he told reporters here last night.
Mr Kumar said acute shortage of police personnel was felt in the state and at least 18,000 personnel were further required.
He said the state police achieved a major success with the arrest of more than 20 key activists of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India from Indore and adjoining areas. Interestingly, police teams from 17 states had quizzed the detained SIMI activists for various violent incidents in those states, he added.
