Patil hails BSF's contribution in national sovereignty
New Delhi, May 24 (UNI) Hailing the BSF as a potent force capable of tackling both external and internal threats, Home Minister Shivraj Patil today said its contribution in upholding the sovereignty and integrity of the country was significant.
Saluting the contribution of the force, the Home Minister noted the nation remembers them with pride, because of their capabilities to handle threats from all quarters, whether internal or external.
Speaking at the BSF's 6th investiture ceremony, where he decorated 19 men with Police Medals for Gallantry and 27 others with Police Medals for Meritorious Services, Mr Patil also assured the force that everything would be done to modernise and train the force as per needs of the times.
The awardees included three decorated with Police Medals for Gallantry, given posthumously, and one UN Peace-Keeping Medal - also posthumously.
