Criminal killed in police encounter
Agra, May 24: Hardcore criminal Rakesh Lohere, who had a reward of Rs 10,000 on his head, was killed in a police encounter in Sikandara station area here today.
On a tip off that Lohere was hiding in a house at Shastrinagar, police cordoned off the residential area and asked him to surrender, Senior Superintendent of Police Mohit Agarwal said.
In a bid to escape, Lohere fired upon the police, however, he was killed in retaliatory firing.
A country made pistol, few cartridges and two motorcycles were recovered from him.
On April 11, Lohere hoodwinked the police and escaped its captivity, when he was being taken to a court in Dewani for hearing.
About 22 cases were pending against him.
