Chhatisgarh Govt succeeded in reducing people's problems: CM

Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, May 24 (UNI) Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh today claimed that his government has been successful in alleviating problems of villagers and wiping their tears.

Talking to reporters here on the second day of his 'Vikas Yatra', Dr Singh said seeing enthusiasm and self-confidence of villagers has given him confidence that the government has succeeded in reducing their problems.

However, he stressed on the need for further expanding development programmes.

He said villagers have shown enthusiasm over schemes such as rice at Rs three per kg and salt at 25 paise per kg for poor, cycle distribution for students of poor families and bonus for 'tendupatta' collectors.

Senior BJP leader L K Advani had flagged off the 'Vikas Yatra' in naxal-affected Dantewara yesterday.

Aimed at making people aware about the achievements of the government, the first phase of the 'Vikas Yatra' would culminate at Bamleshwari temple at Dongargarh in Rajnandgaon on May 26.

The Chief Minister would traverse about 900 km and address several public meetings during his 'yatra'.
