ABVP activists stage dharna before JNTU

Hyderabad, May 24: More than 20 activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the BJP, were arrested when they tried to lay siege to the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) here today.

Police said the ABVP activists entered the JNTU premises and staged a dharna to protest against the release of Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EMACET) results without disclosing the final key of the entrance exams. With the intervention of police, the activists were arrested and lodged in Kukatpalli police station.

However, Andhra Pradesh State Higher Education Council (APSHEC) Chairman K C Reddy and other state higher education officials released the EAMCET results in JNTU after the activists were arrested.
