Durgapur, May 24 (UNI) Altogether eight contract labourers of the Durgapur Projects Limited (DPL) were injured today, four of them critically, when molten slag accidentally dropped on them.
Official sources said here that the workers were working at the bottom reservoir of Unit one of the DPL when molten slag accidentally dropped on the boiler, scalding the labourers.
The injured were rushed to the DPL Hospital from where four of them were shifted to the SSKM Hospital at Kolkata.
Sources at the hospital said the four critically injured people had suffered 90 per cent burns and were battling for their lives.
Meanwhile, one of the victims of the mishap Ram Avtar Yadav alleged that negligence on the part of the DPL authorities had caused the accident.
Special Public Relations Officer of the DPL Nihar Majumdar assured that the best medical treatment would be provided to the injured labourers.
