10 killed in separate incidents of Lightning
Visakhapatnam, May 24 (UNI) Six people were killed and two others injured when lightning struck them while four women were crushed to death when a banyan tree fell on a shed, in the north coastal districts of Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam.
According to delayed reports reaching the police headquarters here today that shepherds who were herding goats were struck by lightning, in which two died on the spot. Another shepherd sustained serious injuries, last evening.
In another incident, four construction labourers, including one from Bihar, were struck by lightning at Hiramanadalam in Srikakulam district. One labourer was injured.
Four women were killed in another incident when a huge banyan tree fell on a crusher unit shed at Mukundarajupeta village in visakhapatnam district, after a bolt of lightning. Two women died on the spot in the incident.
The lightning also claimed the lives of 25 goats in Amudalavalasa village in Visakhapatnam village, police added.
