Wanted criminal held, dagger seized

Hyderabad, May 23 (UNI) The sleuths of the City Commissioner's Task Force, West Zone, today apprehended Mohd Toufeeq, a wanted member of Sheru and Lateef gang (notorious rowdy sheeters) in Habeebnagar here.

Acting on a tip-off, Toufeeq was nabbed near a hotel and a dagger was recovered from his possession.

He was wanted in eight criminal cases, including two attempts to murder, four extortions and two cases of criminal intimidation.

The accused was an active member of the gang and participated in the settlement of land and money disputes by force, for which the gang leaders had been paying a lavish sum of money to him.

Ever since the arrest of Sheru, Lateef and other gang members by the Task Force, Toufeeq had been absconding since last three months.

He had purchased a dagger to attack his rivals and visited the area to intimidate the people and extort money.
