Sultan of Brunei visits Prachute Regiment Training Centre
Bangalore, May 23 (UNI) The Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Hazi Hassanal Bolkiah got a first hand experience of counter insurgency combat when he visited the 'elite' Parachute Regiment Training Centre here today.
The visiting dignitary was taken around the sprawling centre, which is the headquarters of the ten company strong Parachute Regiment. He was impressed by the prowess possessed by the Indian army in combating terror activities.
This included simulated clearing of a hide out (Dhok) of Pakistan trained militants. The soldiers headed by Capt P P Varma flushed out two terrorists displayjing a precision counter insurgency attack.
He also witnessed soldiers in action using ammunition at the State of the Art Indoor Precision Shooting Range.
Earlier he was briefed by the Officiating Commandant of PRTC Col SS Sangwan. Thereafter he was given a glimpse of the training activities conducted at the Centre including a live demonstration of "Slithering' and 'STIE' Operations and Paramotor flying display which are the Hall Mark of our Special Forces.
Slithering operations are used for dropping down of small teams of Special Forces behind the enemy lines close to the target from a helicopter with the help of a rope.
