Seven Procurement Centres opened for Rabi wheat
Shimla, May 23 (UNI) In a bid to ensure smmoth collection of the Rabi wheat in Himachal Pradesh, Food Corporation of India (FCI) has opened seven collection centres in the hill state.
A civil supplies deparment spokesman said here today that detailed discussions were held by officers concerned with the people of the areas before finalising the centres and detailed information about the scheme was provided to the people.
He said that FCI was providing purchase price of Rs 1000 per quintal to farmers as per the Centre's directions.
He said that 53 tonne wheat had been purchased in these seven collection/procurement centres so far.
Farmers of the State have earned reasonable prices for their produce with the opening of these centres, he said.
He further said that private traders had also made purchases and enhanced wheat purchase price of Rs 1050 instead of Rs 1025 had been procured from them after opening of the collection centres of FCI.
