Reference rate 31 paise down at Rs 42.84 per USD

Mumbai, May 23 (UNI) Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today fixed the reference rate for US Dollar at Rs 42.84 per unit, 31 paise lower from the previous day's level of Rs 43.15 per USD.

The exchange rates for Pound and Japanese Yen against the Rupee were quoted lower at Rs 84.7889 (85.0875) per Pound and Rs 41.13 (41.82) per 100 units respectively, an RBI communique here said.
