Lok Satta ready for tie-up with ''like-minded'' parties

Hyderabad, May 23 (UNI) Lok Satta Party President Jayaprakash Narayan today said his party was ready to join hands with those parties ready to fight against the present day political culture.

Participating in a meet-the-press programme organised by the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists, he said his party considered no party as ''untouchable''.

''My party is ready to join hands with any party ready to fight corruption, casteism, communalism, money power and muscle power in politics,'' he said.

To a question, Mr Narayan said he did not have any talks with matinee idol Chiranjeevi, whose entry into politics is being speculated.

He urged the people to strengthen the movement, started by Lok Satta, to end corruption in public life and ''dynastic politics''.

Accusing the mainstream parties of trying to turn people into almseekers by announcing populist schemes such as Rs two-a-kg rice scheme and gold for Mangalsutra for women, he opined that subsidies should be channelised for improving public health and education.

Mr Narayan opined that grant of statehood to Telangana would in no way help resolve the problem of the people of the region.

Vehemently opposing the TRS for allegedly instigating regionalism and creating hatred among people, he advocated decentralisation of powers to ''district-level'' local self governments to usher in all-round development.
