Govt clarifies decision on sugar exports

New Delhi, May 23 (UNI) The Government today issued a clarification stating that its decision to defray internal transport and freight charges, including ocean freight, handling and marketing charges, on exports of domestically manufactured sugar, was applicable to sugar exports made till September 30.

Denying news reports that the Government may withdraw the scheme, an official release said, "The report that the scheme may be discontinued once the export figure reaches 30 lakh tonnes is incorrect." It said the Government was not considering withdrawal of the scheme.
