Four die in fresh hooch tragedy in K'taka

Bangalore, May 23 (UNI) Four people died today in a fresh hooch tragedy at Panaganahalli in Sakaleshpur taluk of Hassan District.

Police said the victims had consumed the killer brew at a marriage function alongwith non-vegetarian food in the village. The victims died on the spot.

One person had been arrested for allegedly supplying the hooch to the marriage party.

More than 28 people had so far been admitted to various hospitals in Sakleshpur taluk after they consumed the illicit liquor. Three of these were in serious condition, doctors in the hospital said.

With this, the toll in the hooch tragedy in Karnataka had risen to 139. A total of 192 lives have been lost in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka after people consumed the killer brew on Sunday evening with Tamil Nadu accounting for 53 lives till last night.
