SAARC Countries concerned over impact of global warming

Jaipur, May 22 (UNI) The South Asia Seas Programme(SASP), a forum of SAARC nations, today expressed concern over the impact of global warming and stressed on the need of new studies and measures in this regard.

For this, the SASP has approved new projects so that climate changes along sea shores and coastal areas can be studied properly.

The SASP meet held here along with the SACEP meeting, observed that global warming was constantly leading to a rise in the sea level and other climatic changes.

The meeting also expressed concern over rising trend of dumping solid waste and effluents, including e-waste in the sea and along the coastal belt and advocated for immediate remedial measures.

The meeting also decided to observe Coastal Cleaning Up Week in third week of September every year for undertaking cleaning up drive and generating mass awareness for the cause.
