Police nabs HNLC militant, seize ammunition
Shillong, May 22 (UNI) Meghalaya Police have arrested a hardcore militant of the banned Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council and seized ten rounds of live AK-47 ammuntion.
The ultra, identified as Banteiborlang Lyngdoh Nonglait, was arrested yesterday from the coal belt area at Nongjri, near Borsora in West Khasi Hills.
Police said, the HNLC cadre had recently returned from Bangladesh to carry out extortion drive in the coal belt.
The Bangladesh-based militant was nabbed while entering the export coal depot belonging to one Control Marbaniang.
Meanwhile, police have also picked up the manager of the coal depot on suspicion that he might have links with the militant outfit as he was present with the cadre while the arrest was made.
