Shillong, May 22 (UNI) There is no threat from China, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command, Air Marshal S K Bhan has said.

In an interaction with newsmen at its headquarters in Upper Shillong here yesterday, the Air Marshal said that although the Chinese Army was building up its forces in Tibet with bordering areas of Northeastern India, there was no immediate threat from the neighbouring country.

He, however, pointed out that India was fully prepared to confront any possible eventuality in the future.

''We are aware of the Chinese building up and modernising its armed forces in Tibet, but a war-like situation is non-imminent,'' Air Chief said.

He also said that India would participate in the Military Red Flag exercise to be held at Neli, USA, next month, in which the US forces and its allies, including NATO would participate.

This is for the first time that India is taking part in such an exercise.
