Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, May 22 (UNI) Slain Faction Leader Paritala Ravi's close associate G Ramamohan was killed in an encounter with the police at Anantapur Town this evening.
District Superintendent of Police M K Singh told UNI that following a tip off, a police team went to arrest Ramamohan against whom a warrant was pending in connection with a murder case.
When asked to surrender, he opened fire at the police and threw bombs injuring two police personnel.
The police returned the fire, killing him on the spot, Mr Singh said.
The injured police personnel were admitted to a local hospital, he added.
The 36-year-old Ramamohan was a ''hired killer'' and several cases, including those of murder, were pending against him.
He went underground after the murder of Ravi, a TDP legislator, in 2005 and the police had been searching for him since then, Mr Singh said.
