CPI(M) to launch agitation against inflation
Mumbai, May 22 (UNI) The Maharashtra unit of CPI(M) will launch a signature campaign and hold an indefinite hunger strike from June 2 across the state to protest against rising inflation.
Party state secretary Ashok Dhawale told reporters here today that 25 lakh signatures will be collected from across the state which would be submitted to Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.
Beginning June 2, party workers will launch ''indefinite'' hunger strike in front of the district collectorates across the state.
The party has demanded that thirteen essential commodities be provided at cheaper rates through the fair price shops. Further, it has demanded that 35 kg of food grains be made available to BPL cardholders, raise the BPL limit to Rs 50,000 and check blackmarketing of kerosene.
