Youth commits suicide in police lock-up

Rajkot, May 21 (UNI) A youth, arrested in connection with an autorickshaw theft case, has allegedly committed suicide in police custody in the district.

Sanjay Zaria (19), a resident of Rajkot, committed suicide in police custody in Shapar-Veraval Police chowki, about 20 kms from here, yesterday night by hanging himself with a shirt, police said.

Family members of the deceased refused to accept the body, however, later, police assured them that strict action would be taken against those responsible for the incident, police said.

The body was brought to Rajkot for post-mortem, police said.
