Unite to make India a superpower: Deshmukh
Aurangabad, May 21(UNI) Paying glowing tributes to late Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi on his 17th death anniversary, Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today observed it was time to come at one platform and strive for making the country a superpower in 21st century so that the unfulfilled dream of Rajiv Gandhi came true.
In his brief speech after unveiling the lifesize statue of the late PM in Delhi Gate area, Mr Deshmukh said Rajiv Gandhi had set the example of transparent government in the world and was still an inspiration for the youth.
The statue was installed from development funds of MLA Rajendra Darda and Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) with an investment of Rs 24 lakh.
Mr Deshmukh said a special meeting would soon be held in Mumbai to sort out all issues of the Aurangabad city.
Mayor Vijaya Rahatkar presided the programme, while guardian minister of the district Dr Patangrao Kadam, Minister of State for Urban Development Rajesh Tope, MLAs Rajendra Darda, Dr Kalyan Kale and Leader of the Opposition Ashraf Motiwala were present on the occasion.
