Major General Nehra takes charge of IGAR
Kohima, May 21 (UNI) Major General Jai Prakash Nehra has taken over the charge of the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (IGAR) in place of Major General K S Sethi, who has been posted to New Delhi.
A release issued here today by the IGAR (North) said Major General Nehra had a rich experience in his military career spanning nearly 34 years.
During his service, the General held various command and staff assignments both in the country and abroad.
He commanded a Battalion in the North East and a Brigade in Jammu and Kashmir.
The General also served as an Instructor at the prestigious Defence Service Staff College and held important assignments in the Army Headquarters.
He was selected as the Deputy Force Commander in UN Mission in Lebanon during the critical period between 2006 to 2008.
He holds Post Graduate degrees of M Sc (Defence Studies), Master of Management Studies and M Phil (Defence and Strategic Studies).
The release further stated that the new IGAR(N) has a deep respect for the Naga society and expressed the desire that peace and tranquility prevail in the state.
The General also stated that the AR would remain committed to supporting the Nagas in ushering peace, the PRO, IGAR, added in the release.
