Berwal-Hakim lift boys U-12 doubles title

Chandigarh, May 21 (UNI) Vikas Berwal and Rohil Hakim defeated Sumit Pal and Dhruv Pal in the boys under-12 doubles final 7-6 (2), 1-6, 10-7 in the AITA Talent Series Tennis Championship being held at the CLTA Sports Complex in Sector 10 here today.

Giant-killer Utkarsh Khosla (Chandigarh), Vikash Berwal (Delhi), Sachin Kumar (Chandigarh) and Dheer Anush Bhatti (Chandigarh) moved into the boys Under-12 semi-final matches.

Unseeded Khosla is showing improvement with every outing.

After shocking top seed Nikung Poddar of West Bengal in pre-quarter-final, Utkarsh Khosla today made mincemeat of Param Pun (Chd) 6-2, 6-3. He will now meet Vikas Berwal in semi-final.

Berwal accounted for Raghav Talwar 7-5, 6-0.

Two Chandigarh boys Samin Bhargava and Pankaj Kumar advanced to the boys Under-16 semi-finals. Samin defeated Ayush Mintri of Punjab, who had yesterday upset top seed Aviraj Kamboj, 7-5, 6-2 in the quarter-finals.

Another Chandigarh player Pankaj Kumar defeated Gulshan Kumar (Punjab) 7-5, 6-4 in quarter-final match.
