Surjeet still critical; leaders enquire about his well being

New Delhi, May 20 (UNI) The condition of veteran CPI(M) leader Harkishan Singh Surjeet, who was admitted to the Metro Heart Hospital at NOIDA following acute respiratory problems a few days ago, continued to be serious.

Senior BJP leader L K Advani, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, former Union Minister Jaipal Reddy and UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, were among those who visited him today at the hospital.

The 92-year-old has been in coma since last week and is on ventilator support.

''Most of his parameters --heart beat, blood pressure and urinary functions-- are functioning normally. His condition is still critical,'' said doctors attending on him.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi had met Surjeet Singh on Sunday and enquired about his condition.

Railway Minister Lalu Prasad had met the wife of the Communist veteran at the hospital late last night.
