Mega block at Virar on May 24-25, from May 28 to June 1
Mumbai, May 20 (UNI) Western Railway will undertake two major blocks in its services from the night of May 24 to May 25 and from May 28 to June 1, to execute the work of yard remodelling at Virar.
The completion of the work will increase the number of platforms from seven to eight, which will facilitate running of additional suburban services, to and from Virar, a release said.
During the mega block from May 24-25, the last suburban service from Churchgate to Virar will depart at 2315 hrs and the remaining four Virar bound trains, scheduled to leave Churchgate at 2337 hrs, 2358 hrs, 0022 hrs and 0050 hrs, will run only upto Vasai Road station.
On May 25, first train from Churchgate to Virar will leave Churchgate at 0534 hrs and the first train from Virar to Churchgate will start at 0711 hrs, after which the suburban services will run as per schedule.
The up trains scheduled to depart from Vasai Road at 0650 hrs for Andheri and 0700 hrs for Bandra will remain cancelled and the 0900 hrs down trains, out of which four from Churchgate, three from Andheri, one from Dadar and one from Borivali, leaving for Virar during 0435 hrs to 0525 hrs on May 25, will run upto Vasai Road station and return from Vasai Road accordingly, the release said.
The second block will start from 0030 hrs on May 28 till June 1, during which all suburban trains will be dealt from new platform no.
8 at Virar station.
In addition, upto 10 per cent of the suburban services will be terminated at Vasai Road or Bhayender and on an average frequency, services will be available at approximately 10 minutes during the period.
The running of existing suburban services will be delayed during the block period and the state transport authorities have been requested to augment the bus services between Vasai to Virar.
