Madhu Chavan appointed state BJP General Secretary

Mumbai, May 20 (UNI) MLC Madhu Chavan, was today appointed Maharashtra BJP General Secretary, party sources said here.

His earlier appointment as the Mumbai party chief had created a turmoil in the state BJP, forcing Gopinath Munde to announce his resignation from the post of National General Secretary, which he subsequently withdrew.

Mr Chavan had openly expressed his displeasure after he was removed from the city party chief post and Gopal Shetty, an MLA, was appointed in his place.
